Creativity and Being

In presence I see a world of conflict. I don’t think that it matters one way or another, whether I am optimistic or pessimistic about where humanity is taking this planet.  I don’t know that it can be anything  other than it is. There exists a tension most everywhere about what must be done and what must not be done. There is contradiction about what we must become and how that must be achieved and out of that there is resistance. And it is all a most destructive energy.

Being filled with life for me involves intimacy, with my self,  others, other creatures and beings and with the planet. Maybe it is that in “being” it allows for this quality of intimacy. From this place of being and intimacy there is something creative and dynamic about  life and in living. It also involves for me a letting go and acceptance of what is and what will be regardless of whether it is problematic or uncomfortable. It involves knowing from that place of letting go and the silence that emerges from it when one self is in conflict, when one is in contradiction and that as long as we are in this place there is no creativity.

I find some satisfaction in the act of attempting to express my experience of life through painting, writing, language and other art forms. I have been painting for over thirty five years and combine my love of art with a meditative and contemplative way of life. I have an intuitive sense that true creativity is something that arises from beyond and through Qthe self that can be explored and shared through some form of expression although I always hope to open to the influence of that which is beyond my limited sense of self.
